Coaching Questions
What is Coaching?
The International Coach Federation (ICF) defines coaching as “partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential. Coaching is a distinct service and differs greatly from therapy, consulting, mentoring, or training. Individuals who engage in a coaching relationship can expect to experience fresh perspectives on personal challenges and opportunities, enhanced thinking and decision-making skills, enhanced interpersonal effectiveness, and increased confidence in carrying out their chosen work and life roles”.

What is Ontological Coaching?
Ontological Coaching is an approach to coaching that gets to the heart of what it means to be human. The word "ontology" means the study of being. Julio Olalla has defined Ontological Coaching as “a process designed to bring about a change in the person's soul, which only happens when we are willing to observe and question and be curious enough to change the way we are.”

Do not let making a living
|
This coaching methodology contains a set of tools for observing and shifting your way of being, moving beyond the simply motivational. It addresses who you are being and what is driving your behavior and produces permanent positive shifts in your ways of being, doing and producing results.
Our way of being can be thought of as the internal reality we live in, particularly the relationship we have with ourselves. It is from this internal reality that we form our reality about the external world and our role in it. Many times, when we do not like the results we are getting, we first change our actions. But focusing on actions without first changing our perspective/context concerning the situation only produces more of the same results - like a stretched rubber band snapping back to its original shape. To truly change the results, a change in the way we perceive ourselves and the world around us must be made.

What is the Difference between Coaching, Therapy and Consulting?
Coaching is not counseling or therapy, which focuses on healing the past. Coaching is forward moving and future focused, using information from the past only to clarify where you are today. The primary focus of coaching is on creating actionable strategies for achieving specific goals in your work or personal life. The emphasis in a coaching relationship is on action, accountability and follow through.
Coaching is not consulting, where an expert in a narrow field designs solutions and tells you what to do. Coaching is a partnership vs. a teacher/student relationship and thus has the freedom and flexibility to address a wide variety of personal and professional topics. |
